Fullsize trucks sales continue to improve in May

May 2010 pickup truck sales have increased 19.3% compared to May 2009. Fullsize trucks continue to lead the drive, accounting for 24.4% increase compared to the same month last year. Compact truck sales have fallen, down 1.5% from May last year.
The Ford F-Series trucks continue to post large gains, up nearly 50% from the same month last year. GM's midsize platform can't hold any ground, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon drop nearly 30% and 44% from last May, respectively.

The increases in May have contributed to improving the year-to-date numbers, now up 11.8% so far this year compared to 2009. Ford F-Series sales have held strong all year, accounting for 32.8% of all truck sales.
