Toyota Tundra Dually Diesel
2007 Toyota Tundra Dually Diesel Project
Hino Diesel-Powered Road Warrior

November 6, 2007

Introduced at the 2007 SEMA Show, this gigantic Tundra is one possible rendition of a Heavy Duty Toyota pickup. This beast of a truck is based on a CrewMax cab with lengthened frame and 6.5-foot bed. The 8.0-liter diesel engine was sourced from Toyota's affiliate Hino. The JO8E-TB Medium Duty 6 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine normally resides in Hino's 35,000 lb trucks. Power is transferred through an Eaton five-speed manual transmission to a Hino rear end with Meritor axles. The engineers at Toyota Motorsports Technical Group are responsible for altering the Tundra to handle the driveline change.

The truck rolls on 22.5x9 inch Alcoa forged alloy wheels, wrapped in 295/60/22.5 Michelin Energy rubber. The front suspension features custom dual front struts with Bilstein dampers. The rear rides on a set of custom Deaver leaf springs.

Inside the bed you will find a custom raw diamond plate aluminum bed liner along with a Reese Signature Series 24K hitch. Exhaust gases are handled by a Magnaflow 4.5-inch polished stainless steel exhaust system.

The Mad Max inspired matte charcoal paint was applied by Focus on Cars. The flat metallic paint is complemented with satin brushed nickel trim accents. AMP Research electrically retractable step boards lower when a door is opened. AMP research also supplied a billet fuel filler door.

A custom brush guard sits in front a brushed metal grill surround. The front bumper also features a brushed metal finish. Roof lighting comes from five PIAA P4000 Quattro cab lights, while LED clearance lights are mounted on the rear fenders and tailgate. An extra-wide rear bumper spans the entire width of the truck and is topped with diamond plate inserts.

The truck takes on a completely different personality inside. Fast Ed's Interiors installed luxurious hand-sewn Ginger leather seats, Taupe ultrasuede pillars and headliner. The rear bench has been replaced with a matching set of captain's chairs and custom console. All seats and door panels feature French stitching and perforated inserts. The shift knob and steering wheel are also wrapped in Ginger leather. Satin brushed nickel door handles, instrument panel surround and door sills accent the leather. The touch panel entertainment system by Kenwood, installed by Beach Auto Sound, includes dual DVD systems for the rear seats and a navigation system in the dash.
